Gaming News: "Marketing Nonsense"
Posted: Friday September 9th, 2005 by

The quote you see in the comic was actually translated from a latin phrase found hidden in the roots of the tree you see on this website.
http://www.origenxbox360.com/

Confused? Yeah, you and everyone else.

Ultimately, it's yet another one of Microsoft's viral marketing campaigns, a strategy made popular by the runaway success of "ilovebees.com" a webbased oddity designed to draw, and keep, the attention of gamers looking for information on the, then yet-to-be-released, Halo 2.

After ilovebees for Halo2, Microsoft did the whole "our colony" thing with XBox 360, and now there's this. And, I'll be honest with you, the novelty has worn off. It's no longer interesting or unique. It's just annoying. There's no point left in Microsoft being coy with us. To my way of thinking, they can either give us info straight up or not. Are the odd little nonsensical games really necessary?

I'm sure some people enjoy it. But, I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the people that DO... work for Microsoft and are in the marketing department.
