Just me being unfairly mean again. ( February 9th, 2009 )
After suffering staggering losses over the holiday season, closing studios, and laying off over 1000 employees, EA's Vice President of Communications, Jeff Brown, assured Kotaku Editor, Brian Crecente, that the company would continue to take risks in the coming year.

I don't have anything against EA or the direction they're going with their games. I've given up harping on regurgitated game play and concepts, because titles employing reiterative design and sequels still sell. One would assume that my harping was akin to preaching to the choir and therefore ineffective in the first place. But when I look over the larger gaming populace I keep getting visions of a choir trying to appear unified even though they're all wearing iPods and not really listening to each other.

That being said, it does seem to me that EA was endeavoring to live up to their vow to focus more on original IP. And despite my obvious jab in the comic. Both of the titles mentioned are original IP. We'll have to wait to see how innovative the shooter really is. Comments made about the game don't instill much faith though. [more info]

It just seems to me that if you want an interesting, entertaining, and actually innovative game these days, you're better off looking at the wealth of net based titles and downloadable micro games via your trusty console.
