Woody & Ted: "Bathroom Humor"
Posted: Tuesday June 16th, 2009 by

So after getting yesterday's required Zapper comic out of the way, we can address my absence the last two weeks.

My pal Richard and his wife are a month from having their first child. And right in the midst of the pregnancy they were starting a new business and moving into a new place that needed a lot of work love. When I talked to him on the phone, I could hear the need and he's come to my aid more than once. So I was more than happy to offer my help.

When I asked him when he'd like me to make the 2000 mile trek he jokingly said "tomorrow". Well, the best I could do was two days. But that also meant I only had two days to do ten comics. It wasn't even enough time to collect guest strips. So, I made due as best I could. And while you guys were looking at my old artwork I was packing, moving, cleaning, sanding, painting, framing, putting in new floors, moving some more, installing new plumbing, and so an and so forth. We literally worked until 3pm on the day I was to return home. The flight was scheduled to depart at 6:30 pm.

There was still so much to do. I wanted to stay and help; but, I had to get back. Work here at GU was piling up. And I was missing the Kid something fierce. I swear it seems like he grew a good few inches while I was gone. At this rate he'll be taller than me by the time he's 6.

Back to my flight...
Like I said it was scheduled to leave at 6:30 from Boston to Philadelphia. Around 5:30 a TSA representative took the mic to let us know that our plane was still on the ground in Philly due to bad weather. Luckily the gate right beside ours had a flight heading out to Philly that wasn't even half full. They were also supposed to leave at 4:30 but had yet to take off. I hopped their flight with a good 10-15 other folks that were also unwilling to wait.

While we sat on the tarmac, delayed even longer, I could see the carrier with my bag in it. It's easy to spot. It's the same color as my hat. I thought for a minute that they were transferring some of our bags to the earlier flight. But, we pulled away leaving my bag behind. The feeling of lost-luggage dread washed over me.

I got to my transfer flight less than 15 minutes before I was originally supposed to. After boarding, this flight was delayed at well: 20 minutes at the gate to fix a communications issue and an hour on the runway, behind 40 other planes, waiting to take off. Needless to say I got into DIA "a little late". Then had to wait even longer as my bag never showed. The thing had 90% of the clothes I usually wear and our laptop packed in it. **whimpers** It was still in Philadelphia. I had to go home without it.

Don't worry for my undies too much though, it showed up at DIA the next day and was couriered to my house that evening.

All things considered someone I don't know shacking up in my bathroom was the least of my worries. Ted pooping in the neighbor's bushes... a different story entirely.
