I feel a little... dirty. ( November 3rd, 2008 )
Arghhh! Social networking?
After years of avoiding it like the plague, I gave in to a moment of weakness and created a myspace page for GU. I know I know... I kinda feel dirty. But, social networking is bigger than porn on the net these days so I temporarily caved. Meh, these things happen right?
And now that there is a page you might as well know about it. I can't say that there will ever be regular updates, or even a reason for friend-ing it. But, if you want to, feel free. I'll probably cave to the other social networking sites in time. Without further ado, the dirty link: http://www.myspace.com/gucomics Last Updated: March 21st, 2009
Guild Recruitment Forum ( September 15th, 2008 )
The new "Call to Arms" guild recruitment Sub-forum is now open.
One of the things I've worked hard to eliminate from the GU forums is the never-ending stream of promotional threads/posts. The primary culprits for this have always been new websites and guild recruitment. Well... websites were given a method of having their site mentioned but guilds were kinda getting the shaft. And since this IS a community encouraging community is usually a good idea.
With that in mind I've created a new sub-forum where folks can post their guild recruitment information. It's called "Call to Arms", is right below "The Who What Where" on the list of sub-forums, and is now open for business. I encourage people posting recruitment messages to read the rules specific to "Call to Arms" before posting. It should make things go a lot smoother. Last Updated: January 18th, 2009
Server Move Complete ( July 26th, 2008 )
The Forums and Main Site are now completely relocated.
With much effort from Tom (Thanks man!), the GU site is now entirely moved over to the new server. Some of you may still be suffering from DNS cache issues, but that should all be resolved soon.
Thanks for your patience and support during this process, I have really appreciated it. Last Updated: November 3rd, 2008

New server incoming. ( July 22nd, 2008 )
Downtime expected sometime soon... ish.
Like the GU Forums, the main GU site will be moving over to the new server soon too. We're just no sure exactly when. We can tell you this much though, when the site goes down it'll be coming back with a new IP address. So, again like the forums, you'll have to wait for your ISP to update their DNS cache before the url will work properly again.
When the move is done, I'll post an IP address here that you can use to get to the site until DNS propagates. Last Updated: July 26th, 2008
The GU Forums Return ( July 22nd, 2008 )
The GU Forums have moved to the new server, but some issues will still present themselves
After some issues with the server, Tom worked to get the forums moved over to the new server. This also meant upgrading the forum version.
Even though the forums are back up and functioning, some folks will not be able to access them until DNS full propagates. This is something that happens at the ISP level, I have no say in when they update their DNS cache. When they do... the forums will show back up for you. Until GUForums.Com starts to resolve for you again, you can use the IP address: 74.55.118.12 And, like I mentioned earlier, moving the forums meant having to upgrade to the newest version. Because there were some custom coded elements to the forums you might see little glitches and errors until we get them worked out. If you run into one, just email or PM me as much information as you can provide. Thanks in advance for you help in that regard. Remember, this is all for the best. **grins** Last Updated: September 15th, 2008
Relay for Life (Goal Met!) ( March 10th, 2008 )
My mom's annual walk to fight Cancer. (Raised: $500 | Goal $500)
My mom called about the yearly walk she does to benefit Cancer Research. She asked if I would mention it here on the site. Here's the message she asked me to pass on:
My name is Christine Greene. I am Woody's mother. I am 56 years old and am a cancer survivor. Most recently I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer as a result of many years of severe acid reflux. I was diagnosed three weeks before Christmas in 2005. I started my chemotherapy a few days before Christmas that year and ended my treatments in April of 2006. I've participated in two Relay for Life walks. I strongly believe that if it had not been for Cancer Research that has brought about the medicines and treatments that I went through for my cancer I would not be here today. My way of giving back to the American Cancer Society is to walk in this Relay and raise funds to go towards Research. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Donations need to be received by April 5th, 2008. Thank you very much! Mom's donation goal is $500 this year. Hopefully we can reach that in short order. To sponsor her "Relay for Life" walk you can donate via Convio.Net here: Christine Greene's Relay for Life Donation Page If you prefer to donate by check please use the following form: American Cancer Society Offline Donation Form Thanks for your help folks! Oh look! New links. ( January 25th, 2008 )
I've added some new links and a new feature to the GU links page.
Someone recently mentioned that they wished I would add new links to the GU links page every so often. And I don't think they realized that I do. It just wasn't being indicated in any noticeable way.
Well now a simple white asterisk does the trick. Each new site added to the GU Links section within the last month are marked. Speaking of links: http://www.gucomics.com/links.php Last Updated: April 25th, 2008
