Puzzle Pirates: "Taste Pirate Steel"

I'm not sure exactly how to classify it, maybe MMORPPG? That's Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Puzzle Game... I think.
The game is Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates. And, it leaves me fighting the overwhelming feeling of contrast. The game and its basis are summed up quite easily in one word: dichotomy.
You see, pirate history is littered with bloodthirtsy scoundrels, treasure, and bloody deeds! All of which this game boils down into colorful little PopCap-esque games played out by smiley-faced crews.
There's no blood and guts, no fighting to the death, there are just colored block and bubbles being twisted and turned by the player base in a form of mock combat/ship maintenance. While some players play puzzles to keep the hold water free, other players are working on the ale that sustains the hearty crew. While some characters are working to fix holes in the deck made by canon balls, others are playing games that load their own canons or navigate the high seas.
When battle is engaged. Sword combat becomes matching colored boxes with different sword graphics to clear the screen, doing so meaning "injury" to your opponents.
All in all it's a weird departure from we've grown to love about pirates... well... other than saying ARRR!
