EverQuest II: "Wrong Kind of Whore"
Posted: Friday September 24th, 2004 by

I got word from Thomas Taylor today that SOE would be giving a beta slot in EQ2 to anyone the pre-registers for the upcoming Fan Faire.

Now, I'm not sure if this is a bid to get asses in the seats, or if SOE is trying to combat the chuckleheads trying to eBay their EQ2 Beta accounts. Now, the reason I wonder about the second "reason" is because I asked Tom: If someone were to pre-register for the event, paid their money, but didn't actually attend, would they still get a beta account? His answer was "yup". So, for those of you so hard up for a EQ2 beta slot that you would consider giving someone $300 for a chance, might I suggest pre-registering for the FanFaire. Since you don't technically HAVE to go, $100 would get you into EQ2 beta. Of course, if you decide to go, that's even better.

EQ2 Beta and Halloween in New Orleans? How cool is that?

Now, I know the comic was a tad harsh, but... I was going for "funny" and well, I'm getting old, so grumpy and mean has just become an integral part of my aging process. **coughs**

As a matter of fact, when Tom and I were talking about the beta slot for pre-registering, I told him that I was going to do a comic about it but that I wasn't going to make any promises that it wouldn't be "mean". He responded by telling me he had that same kind of feeling one gets when they hand their car keys to a 16 year old that just got his driver's license.

I guess his feeling was correct.
Whoopsy!

And, to explain the "joke" for anyone that needs an explanation...
In New Orleans, particularly during Mardi Gras, it is common for young men to convince young women to display their breasts in return for plastic trinkets, most commonly in the form of a $1 bead necklace. That's what Ted is referring to. I am, of course, referring to "whoring" out the event by giving out EQ2 Beta accounts in return for pre-registrations.

The shirts today: Ted is wearing the 42 Ringer Shirt from ThinkGeek and I am wearing an as Roma soccer tshirt given to me by a good friend. It's my favorite shirt.
