The Zapper!: "SOE II"

I tried to put on a strong face when it was announced that Sony had sold off SOE, that the company responsible for the game that started GU would continue on as Daybreak Games. Positivity crumbles however when the layoffs start. And they started immediately. [more info] I understand the concept; Columbus Nova, the investment management company that purchased SOE, needs the company to move into the black as quickly as possible. And, SOE is heavy with unfinished IP. But, to turn the screws so soon after the acquisition leaves me with this sinking feeling in my gut that GU might outlive the very studio that spawned it.
