Sea of Thieves: "Spring Break"

Today is the last day of Spring Break for theBoy. So, yesterday we spent the entire day, as a family, playing Sea of Thieves. So everything he mentions in the comic is true, except tossing me in the brig.
This is only second time I've played the game. The first time was with fans of PlanetBlonde's twitch stream. I was a little worried about playing with folks I didn't know, but it was an absolute blast. It PB and I KNEW we had to play it with theBoy yesterday.
So what makes it enjoyable? The graphics are fantastic. And the sense of adventure is real. There are some frustrations in the game, if I'm honest, in the form of some really stupid game design choice. And, open world PVP can be brutal particularly when there is no safety net for people new to the game to learn how to squest, turn in treasure, etc. without being attacked by more higher level, more skilled/experienced players who benefit not at all from sinking your ship or managing to run off with your loot.
That being said, it's so easy to forget the dumb game design elements, when you're wrestling a megalodon, fleeing from NPC pirates, scurrying to patch the hull after you accidentally ran aground, or randomly offering people your banana in a communal area. **coughs**
Trying to forget the asshats though, that's a completely different story.
Sea of Thieves can be a bit pricey, but you can play Sea of Thieves for free if you have an Xbox Game Pass which, for the moment, you can try for free for 14 days.
