Sea of Thieves: "Two Thumbs"

On a whim, in the wee hours of Friday morning, I logged into Sea of Thieves to see if I could complete the first stage of the Shores of Gold quest added during the game's Anniversary Update.
I'd given it a couple of attempts previously and had gotten close, but ran out of time before having to log off, losing my progress. But not Friday. I used the info I had from those previous attempts and tore through the questline. To my utter surprise no one else seemed to be on, or they were uninterested in being asshats. I capitalized on that disinterest, finished the first stage of the quest, and moved on to the second. Some time later, I managed to finish the second stage as well.
I had to elude Cursed Pirate Ships, out fun multiple Megalodons, survive a wicked storm, and out maneuver a player manned galleon, but I got it done. Now, if you don't live that pvp lifestyle, I'm not going to recommend you roll into SoT solo. Most of my solo adventures end in heartbreak. But, if you feel you absolutely must get out there, all alone in your Sloop, apparently 4 am is the time to do it.
