Crazy Taxi, Myst, Burnout... or a Bucket of Chicken?
( October 3rd, 2005 )
Recently Joystiq reported that the "executives [at Acclaim responsible for driving the publisher to file Chapter 7] are now subject to a $150million bankruptcy lawsuit on behalf of the trustees that oversaw the bankruptcy claim." Joystiq [ more info ]
Here's the beautiful part though... In order to settle the lawsuit, the trustees are auctioning off Acclaim's entire catalogue of video game publishing rights. And, it's a public auction, so anyone can submit a bid (if they want to). Now, my guess is that, since the entire library of games is going to be auctioned off in one fail swoop rather than individually, a large company like EA or Microsoft (Gaming Studios) will drop down a HUGE bid (probably more than the $150million lawsuit) and walk away with the rights to re-publish all those games. Please note: there's no room for EA or Microsoft bashing in this thread. Oooo Oooo... Maybe this means we'll see a re-release of Crazy Taxi... with next Gen graphics! If you could get your hands on one of those licenses, which would it be and why? ____________________ Today's Pimpage: Ted is wearing a "Mouring Girl" t-shirt from Threadless.Com.
