Woody & Ted: "Gaming for Life"
Posted: Monday July 2nd, 2007 by

This weekend Taks and I went with her parents to their cabin in the mountains. (It's in SouthPark. No lie.) Well, with the baby coming Taks' mom has been keen on getting us all together for game nights. This usually revolves around card and table top games. So, I decided the time at the cabin was the perfect opportunity to shift the direction of game nights a little.

I brought Guitar Hero with me.

Both her mom and her dad are 58. But, they're intelligent, fun-loving folks. And we have previously got them to play and enjoy Burnout and Katamari Damancy. So, the chances of them enjoying Guitar Hero (I & II) were pretty high.

Now, to explain the comic a little. I'm fond of tossing the occassional age dig out at them. They don't mind because they know I'm just kidding. But the idea of convincing two "old" people to play Guitar Hero resonated with me. And, the image that came to mind was that of Ted doing a gaming outreach program for the elderly. Now, I actually believe that such a program is a good idea. But, I'm also inclined to believe that Ted might be a touch over zealous in his methodology.

In case you were curious, both Taks' mom and dad took quickly to the game. We even left PS2 and two guitars behind so they could continue to play and practice until they come home later this week.
