Diablo 3: "Timeout"
Posted: Tuesday June 12th, 2012 by

Blizzard has given notice to Diablo 3 hackers and cheaters... "stop or be banned". [more info] Now, I know I'm a cynical jackass so you have to take my response with that in mind. It just seems silly. They're hackers and cheaters. Does Blizzard really think a "permanent ban" is going to have a severe enough impact to swear them off actions that they already knew carried a risk of being banned? Silly. Hey don't you jump in that water puddle or your socks are totally going to get wet.

Do I have a good answer? Nope. Wish I did. I'd write an article and forward it on. But I have zero doubt that action on Blizzard's part would have to be much more severe to even make any kind of difference. I also have zero doubt however that Blizzard will ever ramp up their response. This threat of a permanent ban is for those of us who aren't hacking or cheating. The ones of us who weren't likely of hacking or cheating in the first place. Even at that it's not really meant to threaten us. It's meant to make us feel better. Ooo Ooo... hackers and cheaters are being punished. Most of us already know that though. So all this threat really does is to make sure that it's reported that Blizzard is responding.

All that being said let me just add...
Diablo 3 Hackers and Cheaters! You got sit in your timeout chair and think about what you've done.

UPDATE:
The best way I've seen of dealing with Cheaters yet:[link]
"Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a "Cheaters Pool", where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants."

Genius.
