Final Fantasy III: "Mmmm MSG"

I'm going to highjack a lot of this directly from GameSpot because I have ONLY played first Final Fantasy released in the US on the original Nintendo. Don't scoff at me dammit. Surely I'm not alone in that distinction. Am I?
This particular Final Fantasy III is not the FF3 we know here in the states (that was actually Final Fantasy VI). Apparently there were quite a few Final Fantasy chapters that never made it to the states. This version, available for the DS, is one such missing chapter.

Now I figure there's got to be a reason this particular game never made it over to us. And I have a sneaking suspicion that it might have something to do with the dangers of fast food. Now, that's purely speculation and 16 years ago I don't think we were really looking at our eating habits. But hey, it was fun drawing those little doll-like characters, blown up like balloons, wolfing down corndogs, chips, and the like.
Meh, I make no excuses for the odd bubbling lump in my brain I call my "sense of humor".
