Gaming News: "How Appropriate"
Posted: Tuesday November 27th, 2007 by

This coming February, at the 2008 D.I.C.E. Summit, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) will be bestowing a Lifetime Achievement Award on former Sony Computer Entertainment Chairman and CEO, Ken Kutaragi. Mr. Kutaragi has been dubbed the Father of the PlayStation and is considered to have revolutioned the "in-home global entertainment market". Kutaragi retired from Sony earlier this year after 30 years with the company.

I give Ken crap because some of the quotes he's given us over the years. But the truth is I see him as ultimately deserving of a lifetime achievement award. Though the disc-driven playstation should have been a Nintendo system, it was Ken that pushed the project through to completion. And I don't think many people would argue that the PlayStation changed the way we looked at games. He completely deserves a Golden Jackass... or whatever the award from the AIAS will look like.
