The Zapper!: "Blockbuster"

Far from actually being zapped, Blockbuster (as expected) has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. [more info] The writing has been on the wall for a while, I guess it was just somewhat of a shock when the news actually came down. Blockbuster, though they tried desperately, just couldn't contend with monstrous competition from Netflix, RedBox, and video on demand.
I'm a shining example of this. Blockbuster used to be a near daily trip for me. This was mostly due to proximity. I could walk. When I moved farther away, my patronage thinned then shifted to Hollywood Video (which was closer). Then Netflix became a big thing and I haven't looked back.
Blockbuster does have a plan to restructure. And I doubt seriously that it will hit the zapper any time soon. But they are in trouble. Unfortunately Mr. Blockbuster, I can't help you out... I'm completely content with Netflix. We actually sit around having drinks and laugh about the videos we've shared. Sorry man.
