Asheron's Call: "Skeptical"

As per Borus' post yesterday, Turbine has brought Asheron's Call 2 back from the dead 7 years after it buried it unceremoniously in the first place. [more info]
I think it's cool to see an MMO come back from the zapper grave. I'm a jaded jackass so I'm skeptical about the motivations, of course. I mean, it's only available to play if you have an active Asheron's Call account. I understand the idea, it just makes my eye twitch a bit. But if it's that or nothing... I'll take the account bound access.
Now, I don't know anything about the game. I've never played it. If you have, please feel free to fill us in.
