Woody & Ted: "Motivation"
Posted: Friday May 17th, 2013 by

As I was working on Wednesday's comic, I was listening to a heavy metal music documentary called Gigantour on Netflix. When that was done, and there was still work left to do, Netflix recommended I give a listen to "deadmau5: Meowingtons Hax 2K11". It uhh... didn't exactly inspire me.

Now, there are a couple of things you should know here. I've heard of deadmau5 before though I'd not listened to it before that moment. I was a DJ in college with two different techno based shows, so I'm not exactly a newbie when it comes to repetitive music. So, I forced myself through it, trying desperately to understand the appeal. I was convinced that something would click at some point and I'd "get it". I've got eclectic music tastes; so, that musical idealism wasn't such a stretch. So I listened trying to figure out how you could sing along or dance to it which are the hallmarks of standard techno music. Apparently that's not the case with dubstep?

So I'm asking those of you that like deadmau5..."what is it?" What makes this music speak to you? Do you have to be on E to "get it"? And does this (coupled with Wednesday's comic) prove that I've become an old man?

Sorry about the discussion thread being inaccessible. We went to Taks' Parent's cabin for the weekend. We left Thursday so I had to post everything in advance. I though we were going to have access to the internet on Friday for me to move this post out of the Moderators forums. Sadly that wasn't the case. But I'm home now and the issue has been corrected. A bit late maybe but hey, I really needed a break. Thanks for understanding.
