Atari E.T.: "Excavation"

It's true, after all these years, a documentary film crew has been granted permission to dig up the site where millions of 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial' cartridges for the Atari 2600 are believed to be buried. [more info] Nerd Legend has it that the movie tie-in game was so bad and sold so poorly that Atari buried the unsold cartridges at the Alamogordo Landfill in the New Mexico desert. It's also said the spot was covered over with concrete. I personally have my doubts. But it's a piece of nerd culture lore that I absolutely love.

Well on April 26th, the film crew, some garbage contractors, and anyone from the public that wants to attend will learn the truth about what Atari dumped out there. I would absolutely LOVE to be in attendance. We'll have to see how that goes. If you're interested in making the pilgrimage, here are the particulars:
