Alas, people will do stuff like this. Remember the Mexican fans at the soccer match in Mexico City last year chanting "Usama! Usama!" to razz the American team? Or that crapfest of a videogame that came out where you hunt down Taliban and in the end beat Usama Ben Ladin up in a fight game that came out RIGHT as my brother-in-law was watching another one of his friends die in front of him in Afghanistan. Some people and companies have zero tact.
I remember when the movie "Black Hawk Down" came out. And after I saw it (being incredibly scarred after watching it), I saw an advertisement for a game based on it. That just seems really sick to me. The movie made me retch, why would I want to replay it, as one of the guys? That's just really freaking sick.
That reminds me of something that happened yesterday. I guess "The Passion" is coming out on DVD soon. My brother asked me, "Oooh, are you going to get it?"
Um, that movie made me violently ill. Every time I think about it, it still makes me very upset. I never, ever want to see that movie again. Maybe it would have been a better idea for Mel to not release it in theatres, because there are people who see it as entertainment, because it was a movie. How could you be entertained by watching that, even if you're not a christian!? It's basically a movie about a guy being tortured the whole time. Gah..okay, I'm going to stop.
I just think it all boils down to our society being so desensitized.
Edit: By society, I don't just mean American society, I mean the world society.
