Chimera: "It Doesn't Exist"

Despite an increase in sales, NCSoft is showing a small loss. The loss has been attributed to costs associated with the recently released Auto Assault. The car-pocalypse MMOG (as per a claim made at the end of June) has yet to see more than 10 thousand subscribers.

To be clear, the Auto Assault fly isn't asking to be shot because he wants to die, but rather because there's no one to shoot him in-game. The same could be said of the Planetside fly. But, I've played that in the last few months, there were no shortage of bullets to be found flying through combat hotspots. The Horizons fly however... I think he may just want to be done with it all. The cynical amongst us may well see that as a direct result of continuing problems with EI. And the Shadowbane fly... well... I don't think he cares either way.
I was really looking forward to the Auto Assault release. But somewhere between initial beta impressions and the go live date, something seemed to change. I'm not sure what it was, but the enthusiasm just seemed to lift and dissipate like morning fog. This too is weird though because the spirit seemed to be high when I visited back in April. And I'll tell you straight up, I really like the folks at NetDevil. They're young, and fun, and seem to have shed the vestiges of "corporation" without loosing touch with the feeling professionalism.
So yeah, where seeing the news that NCSoft is sitting in the red because Auto Assault hasn't lived up to expectations concerns me, I'd like to promote the idea of giving the game a shot, if you haven't already. A two week free trial is available via PlayNC: click here.
Those of you that have played the game and quit for whatever reason, please be constructive in your criticism, and clear about what was wrong, why, and how it could potentially be fixed.
