With BlizzCon '07 just around the corner, I figured it would probably be a good idea to reopen my account and refamiliarize myself with everything. So yesterday I went through the hours of one patch at a time updating, installed the Burning Crusade expansion, patched some more, and finally got back into the game.
The problem is that I've forgotten almost everything. All of my talents had been wiped. My arms and armor are terribly outdated. I didn't even know how to get to the new areas. Once I finally did start getting back into the swing of things, I remembered why I liked WoW so much to begin with. It has a relatively flat learning curve, I still dig the graphics, and you can log in for 15 minutes and leave feeling like you accomplished something. And much to my surprise, some of the same folks were still in the same chanel I left oh so long ago. It's a touch reassuring knowing they're still there, telling the same jokes.
Stepping back into WoW, even for a month or so, will likely result in a lot of WoW jokes. Please prepare yourselves accordingly.
