GU PSA: "Words of Wisdom"

I was working on some stuff yesterday and Taks was kind enough to pick up some caffiene for me while she was out an about. My typical poison is Mountain Dew (any flavor). Well one of the bottles, though green and Mountain Dew-y, did not actually say "Mountain Dew". It said "Mtn Dew". I immediately got a headache.
I tried to ignore the rebranded bottle. But every time I thought about it, I got angry again. I just can't process what the purpose of this change might be. It's not "young" or "hip". It's just stupid; yet another example of the dumbing down of an already simple language; further bastardization extending from a cellphone and IM driven culture of lazy typing.
Later that night I ran around the net looking for info. What I found is that this is just one step in a sweeping Pepsi rebranding effort. They've even changed their logo. I could not find official word beyond pointless flash videos and pictures. Ultimately... I'd just like to smack the people in Pepsi's marketing and PR departments.
