Woody & Ted: "ED's Extrospection"
Posted: Wednesday March 15th, 2006 by

ED walks around the house meowing pointlessly these days. We decided that it's some form of seperation anxiety brought on by the larger house and our attention being focussed on the puppy. But recently, I've decided that she's probably just narrating my life a la Ed Norton in Fight Club.

So, if you were confused... look closely in the background of the off panel word bubbles. You'll see a very faded "Meow". I wanted to do it the other way around... so you saw the MEOW for and the text second (as a translation) but it just didn't come across as well.

Anyway, to explain the comic beyond that:
Since I lost my data my ability to deal with anger and frustration has been sorely compromised. That is to say, that the simplest things and send me into a minor rage. My Psych classes from college tell me that it's probably just left over angst and stress caused by the data loss. Once I really deal with the idea of having so easily lost all my work, get over it, and my day returns to something resembling normalcy, I'm sure the, out of character, lack of complete control will subside.

Needless to say, this new habit of ED's to walk around the house meowing endlessly is driving me mad, if I'm not there already. She doesn't do it constantly (thank goodness). But, when she gets on a roll...

Add on to that continuing computer issues in the house (not just mine), and trying to get work done while paying enough attention to Caesar to keep him from licking his stitches and you've got one "on the edge" cartoonist.

On the upside, the Cintiq (which started the computer destruction ball rolling in the first place) is finally functioning in a way that actually helps me get artwork done. Now, I just have to get used to the changes in the way I produce work with it. Which entails rework my desk so that I can get at the keyboard while using the thing, and developing a hulk-like deltoid so as to support my arm being held up and out all day rather than resting on the desk.

Please read before posting:
I will get through this in my own time, in my own way. I appreciate your desire to "help. But, I don't require any advice on the subject. Thanks for understanding.
