Naruto: "Not Like Naruto"

Last night as I was digging through gaming news trying find comic material, a commercial for the upcoming Naruto game came on. Now, I don't have much experience with Naruto. I've only watched a couple of episodes because, to be honest, they make my brain hurt.
But, curiosity piqued, I went an looked up the game anyway. Apparently there are eight thousand Naruto games out there. I dug through my mental archives trying to figure out what the appeal is. Every episode I've watched was little more than closeups of a screaming, orange-clad brat, who seemed to be of the mindset that everything in the universe existed for his personal glory.
Now, maybe I didn't give the show enough credit. I've seen how many folks at Anime conventions wear Hidden Leaf Ninja headbands, gloves, necklaces, etc. So, I must be missing something. And since my bias on these kind of things is well documented and rarely fair, I'm asking that the Naruto fans in the crowd PLEASE illuminate this for us. Tell us why Naruto is worth watching and thus worth making 8 thousand video games about.
