"Ab Workouts"

So yeah, Im in the Army, my PT is usually pretty good. For my age range I can max out my push-ups (42 is max, I usually do 50+), I can do my 2 mile run with no problem (time limit is 18:52, I usually finish between 16-16:30), buuuut when it comes to sit-ups I always barely make the minimum of 52. It's always been my weakness. All through out Basic and AIT. I've tried numerous things to work out my ab region but it just seems things aren't working in my favor.

I know we have some gym buffs on this forum so I figured I would come here for some advice. Im current deployed so we don't have access to anything thats hardcore when it comes to gym equipment. We have some good stuff just, nothing extreme, I suppose. Plus I really don't like using equipment for my abs unless Im using a bench for leg lifts and what not.

Anyways, any advice what so ever on work out methods, eating, whatever would really be appreciated. I only have a few more months left in country but I would really love to get close to my goal of how I want my abs shaped. Mucho thanks for any help ^_^
