Man, it's been a long time since someone sent in a joke idea that I used. So, last night when Nick B's suggestion came in, I nodded my approval and moved ahead with it.
Here's what Nick had to say:I had a moment this week that made me think of Ted and laugh. I was talking with my girlfriend about finishing the basement and she asked me if I had ever undertaken any sort of reconstruction before. First response that came to mind was, 'I have a laptop with wireless internet, how hard could it be?' Really got me laughing because its a conversation I could see Woody and Ted in the comic for somesort of rediculous circumstance.

Well, rather than using it as a departure point, I adopted the idea entirely. See, this is actually something Taks and I had talked about. I've always wanted a man-cave where I could work surrounded by my toys without cluttering up a room in the house people might see. Unfortunately Taks' dad, who is a construction supervisor, said the foundation probably didn't go deep enough. We'd have to dig down and add support structure underneath which would likely cost over half what the house is worth. And that's not exactly a wise use of cash because we wouldn't add that much value to the house at resale. Bye bye Woody dreams of man-cave goodness.
Ahh well. I guess my Morlock-esque return to the earth has been thwarted again.
