Guest Strip: "Old Men in Hats"
Posted: Friday September 25th, 2009 by

In my time of need Stormhaven rides again. Here's what she had to say about her submission:

The idea came from the now infamous quote from a Wall Street Journal article dealing with the possible take over of THQ. The WSJ article (via Dow Jones Newswires) is quoted saying the following:

""While we won't be surprised by an offer for THQ, we believe that Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO) could be a better take-out candidate," said ThinkEquity's Bagga, adding that Take-Two has a number of strong franchises and a number of wholly owned Internet Protocols. Wholly owned IPs not only carry higher profitability, but also are more valuable to media companies because they could be adapted into movies, TV serials and online destinations."

Needless to say a mental slip of the fingers mixing up Internet Protocols with Intellectual Properties is the most likely culprit (and quite honestly something I would probably do), but seeing that both the newswire and WSJ (should) have an army of fact checkers and editors on staff double-checking all of their articles, well they get a little less slack compared to Joe Schmoe posting on the internet.

That being said, there's always possibility number two...
...old men in suits have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to technology and should probably keep their mouths shut about subjects they know nothing about (much less attempt to regulate the technology with half-baked laws /rant).

Thanks as always Storm!
