Gaming News: "Proprietary"

Sony's PSP replacement device is called the Vita and I'm not interested in it at all.
I drank the PSP KoolAid; and where the thing was pretty, I can't tell you the last time I actually took it out of its case. I'll admit that early on I bought it for it's movie playing loveliness moreso than for its games. But what happened? The movie UMDs cost too much. Then stores stopped carrying them. Soon you could only get them online, but the price didn't drop any. Completely useless.
Now after watching UMDs fail miserably Sony has decided that propriety memory cards are the right idea for a device that does not use discs, carts, etc.? It's all digital distribution. You're going to have to save your games somewhere. And rather than just use cheap, ubiquitous SD Cards, Sony forces us to buy their Vita Memory Cards. The pricing goes like this: 4GB = $29.99, 8GB = $44.99, 16GB = $69.99, and 32GB = $119.99. By comparison, SD cards at the same sizes cost approximately $6, $10, $20, and $32.
Sorry Sony. No sale.
