World of Warcraft: "Game Time Tokens"

It's been a weird few months for World of Warcraft, in my estimation. Selfies, Twitter integration, and now Game Time Tokens? But where has it left us? I think the selfies are silly, but there's nothing inherently wrong with that. If you don't like 'em, don't do 'em. Just like in the real world. And Twitter? Well, I spend a lot of time on Twitter. I've never felt the need to post my gaming exploits to it. But, that doesn't mean I didn't create an account for Grek to post HIS exploits. **coughs** http://twitter.com/grektholar**coughs** Yes, that's a selfie as his Twitter icon.
That brings us to Game Time Tokens. I admit it worries me a bit. I'm concerned that it means subscriptions are dropping so fast, that this is Blizzard's stop-gap. But, just underneath my concern is promise and potential. I can see saving myself money from time to time by purchasing a token with excess gold. But, more importantly, I can also see someone who keeps me company (Spazz), who was going to drop his subscription, stick around to invest in a handful of Tokens and continue to play... for free. I certainly don't see any harm in the system. And someone has to buy the token with real money before its available to be purchased for gold. So, it's not exactly like this will go away because everyone is just buying the tokens instead of subscribing. I mean you have to admit, it's a decent idea (borrowed from other games though it may be):
1. Hook people in with the idea of free game time.
2. Wait for the months where they forget to collect enough gold to buy a token (currently around 25K) or forget to buy a token.
3. Collect the monthly fee
4. Profit.

So, about the return of the comics...
It felt good to sit down and dedicate time to the comic itself. The problem, if you can call it that, is that I operate best when I'm talking with other gamers. No stupid news comics. No throw away comics. Just silly stuff that pops into my head with jabbering on with someone else, because my brain is a tangent machine. Right now though, Bloody Plunder (on Doomhammer) is almost completely empty. So, I don't have a lot of chances for comic spawning conversations there. Spazz is great, but if all the comics were based on the things he likes to talk about, GU would be littered with statistics and min-maxing "jokes". General and Trade are just pure garbage 90% of the time.
I know a lot of you are done with WoW. So, I won't push using Game Time Tokens and joining Bloody Plunder as the solution. But, I'm thinking it might be time to start a GU hangout or something. Thoughts?
